PK Sound, the robotic line array company, has firmly established its presence in the United Kingdom by welcoming AF Live and Sonalyst as its first U.K.-based touring and rental partners. Both companies boast strong reputations for technical excellence in high-profile live productions and have invested in expansive PK Sound robotic systems following a series of successful deployments across major U.K. events this summer.
The partnerships underscore PK’s commitment to this important and influential market, supported by the recent establishment of a dedicated U.K. entity led by Director of Global Network & Partnerships Mike Case. The U.K. team provides comprehensive sales, technical training, and application support, helping mobile and installation partners to leverage the acoustic and operational advantages of PK’s patented robotic systems.
“We’ve now deployed PK systems on several major events and experienced the operational efficiencies firsthand,” comments Paul Rose, Director of AF Live. “They save us considerable time onsite, which means our team can concentrate on elevating the overall quality of the event instead of having to make compromises that would otherwise detract from the audio quality or working around the limitations of a conventional system. Because the coverage can be mechanically tailored to the exact environment, the results are consistently superior. We can put energy precisely where it needs to be, keep it away from problematic areas, and deliver a better experience for the audience and our clients.”
AF Live’s initial PK investment comprises robotic line array systems with complementing intelligent subwoofers capable of fulfilling arena- and stadium-sized applications. Based in Bristol, AF Live is one of the U.K.’s largest owner-operated, independent providers of bespoke sound systems and technical production, drawing on over 25 years of experience to support events and venues of virtually any scale. Working closely alongside artists, promoters, and broadcasters, AF Live has developed a large customer base covering all aspects of event production, from festivals through high-profile corporate applications and international sporting events.
The company’s initial PK deployments included sold-out WBC and IBF boxing events at the 3Arena in Dublin, The O2 in London, and St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton. AF Live also anchored the Nexus Stage at this year’s Boomtown Fair, leveraging PK’s Multi-Axis Robotics in challenging acoustic and meteorological conditions, catering to a variety of live acts and DJs across four show days with positive feedback from artists and touring engineers.
Sonalyst also invested in PK robotic inventory to enhance its wide range of mobile applications. Operating from a 70,000-sq.-ft. facility in South Wales, Sonalyst is a market-leading independent production provider offering consultation, equipment, and personnel for concerts, theatre, television, film, exhibitions, corporate events, private functions, and permanent installations. With more than 40 years of experience, the company provides comprehensive sound, lighting, video, rigging, and production services for clients worldwide.
“Usher Hall presented a great opportunity to experience what PK Sound’s technology can achieve in a demanding and architecturally unique venue,” says Rory Madden, Managing Director at Sonalyst, referring to his company’s maiden PK deployment at the hallowed Edinburgh venue for the global premiere of Outlander in Concert. “Being able to mechanically shape the system’s coverage to the contours of the room was a tremendous advantage, allowing us to maintain clarity and consistency throughout the different levels and seating areas. Our team and our clients at Sony Pictures Entertainment, GEA Live, and RoadCo were equally impressed by the intelligibility and impact of the system. Every element of the performance translated beautifully. Above all else, with its incredible coverage versatility and ease of rigging, it sounds fantastic.”
PK Sound remains focused on developing the U.K. market through strategic partnerships, hands-on demonstrations, education, and deployment support. The company’s dedicated regional operation will also work closely with established distribution and production partners across its wider European network, ensuring U.K. users have access to scalable inventory, technical expertise, and comprehensive support for projects throughout Europe and beyond.
“Welcoming AF Live and Sonalyst to our network represents a significant milestone for PK in the United Kingdom,” comments Case. “Both companies have earned outstanding reputations through decades of technical excellence, ambitious productions, and an unwavering commitment to their clients. Together, they establish an incredibly strong baseline from which we can demonstrate the acoustic and operational advantages of PK technologies to other potential mobile and installed partners throughout the U.K. We’re proud to support their continued success and excited about what we can build together.”
